This model is a smaller and lighter version of the AS-1, using the same design criteria. The use of very light sub-micro equipment causes the weight to scale down faster than the wing area. As a result, the wing loading is much less than the AS-1, and the flying speed is very slow. The controls are sensitive, and the aircraft is easily disturbed by air currents and propwash from other models. It is best not to fly at all when bigger models are hovering.
Because of its light weight, slow speed, and energy absorbing design, the AS-2
shrugs off most crashes. I usually hand-launch it to get things going, since a
take off and climb to cruise altitude is a very leisurely affair.
The control system was changed from a pull-pull arrangement to a pushrod set up, to allow control sensitivity adjustments with a non-computer transmitter. Check the motor alignment and set trim to neutral during the pre take-off check.
